
Hiring for Chamber Coordinator

The Willits Chamber of Commerce is looking for you! This opportunity is a chance to directly and creatively engage with the community of Willits and be a champion for our Mission.
The Chamber Coordinator is the face of the Chamber to the community, Chamber members, and visitors. The Chamber Coordinator is hired by and reports to the Chamber's Board of Directors, is responsible for the day-to-day management of all Chamber functions, and for carrying out policies and duties established by the Board.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Leadership and Administration
- Grow & Retain Chamber Memberships
- Work closely with the Officers and Directors of the organization to ensure full understanding of current organizational status plan, identify and prioritize goals and coordinate regular Chamber meetings, including board meetings and annual membership meetings
- Appropriately appraise the Board of upcoming issues and topics
- Comply with all statutory, regulatory, organizational requirements; recommending changes as needed
- Keep detailed and accurate records of all Chamber business
- Effectively delegate and manage volunteers
- Retain and grow membership
- Assist with the development and management of events and programs
Marketing and Events
- Create and maintain strategic partnerships and alliances with other organizations to promote Willits as a destination and a great place to live, work, and play
- Represent the Chamber as the initial point of contact for media and public relations
- Enhance the Chamber's public image through collaboration with community organizations and businesses
- Work with the Board of Directors and committees to implement marketing initiatives and strategies
- Manage marketing and communications initiatives such as Mailchimp, Facebook, Instagram and other Social Media platforms, newsletters, news releases, blogs and other communication materials
- Act as the Chamber's Event Coordinator
Community
- Maintaining a communicative relationship with the City of Willits, including attend one (1) per month - City Council meeting as a representative of the Chamber
- Deliver an Annual Presentation Report to the Willits City Council at scheduled meeting
- Advocate for business in the community
- Act as ex-officio member on all committees on the Willits Chamber of Commerce, including the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors
- Create and maintain good working relationships with private and public economic development agencies, and other organizations as the pertain to ongoing projects
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Email, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) | Clerical (typing, phone, copier, filing, etc.)
- Light Bookkeeping | Professional Telephone Etiquette
- Excellent Customer Service | Excellent Communication Skills | Experience in Event Coordination
- Canva / Marketing Creation (Ex: creating event flyers, engaging social media posts)
- Social Media Proficiency/Management | Business Pages & Groups (Facebook & Instagram)
- Mailchimp (Email campaigns) | Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Supervisory/Management Experience (helpful) | Experience in Sales (helpful)
- Experience in Public Speaking (helpful) | Bilingual (helpful/not required)
Additional Information
- The position is scheduled in alignment with the current office hours for the Chamber (Monday – Thursday 10 AM – 4 PM and CLOSED Friday – Sunday)
- This position requires attendance at all Board Meetings, every 4th Thursday of each month – the meetings are held at 6PM
- This position requires attendance at all Chamber Coordinated Events (can occur on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday)
- Wage: $20 - $25 DOE Per Hour | Job Type: Part-time | Benefits: Flexible schedule | Schedule: Day shift | Weekends as needed
